Tattoos used be something that was primarily a man thing but more and more these days women are getting body art. Feminine tattoos make up half the tattoo designs that are done each year. Yet finding quality feminine tattoos requires mostly weeding through dozens or hundreds of masculine designs to find the one us girls like.
Sure you have the typical heart, butterfly, angel, rose and flower tattoo designs but there are way more feminine tattoos to be had and actually allow us girls to be more original than just the standard old band of roses around the ankle or heart on our chest. Women are getting more and more creative with the type of artwork they are having done and where on the body they are having artwork placed.
While many men are having bland old black and white designs done, women are blending in beautifully colored art in their feminine tattoos and creating a whole new genre of designs for the local tattoo parlor. It is even flowing over to tattoo artist themselves as it used to be the only artist you would see in a shop were the long haired “biker type”.
With the creative mindset of many women they are becoming more and more prevalent as artist. The featuring of Kat Von D on Miami Ink showed that women can not only hold their own as artist but in many cases can provide a more sentimental approach to feminine tattoos than has ever been seen in the community. As we see more and more women getting into the art form I believe we will see not only more designs geared towards women but more and more women getting body art.
There is a huge difference between the typical male design and many of the body art designs that women are choosing.
