If you’re having trouble finding the perfect tattoo, join the masses. A tattoo should suit your body type, personality and most of all, be something which you will continue to like for years to come. Once you have done this you’ll need to consider the size and location for the design. There is no feasible part of the body which hasn’t been used for tattooing.
Many people look through tattoo design flash books looking for their perfect design, unfortunately not many people find what they truly want without having a long hard look around. If you have ideas about the right tattoo design for you, you could always ask a competent artist to design one especially for you. Commissioning an artist to draw you a tattoo is a rather expensive way to go but if you are looking for that unique design which is tailor made for you, it may be worth the cost.
If this is your first tattoo, you may want to start small. Many people have been know to ask a tattooist “will it hurt?” well the simple answer to this is “a man with a needle gun is going to pierce your skin and inject ink into you over and over again - what do you think?”. Yes it will hurt a little and it will also be tender for a few days afterwards. Starting small will give you a feel for what is to come with a larger tattoo.
One of the best ways to decide whether a tattoo really is for you would be to try out some fake tattoos. This may sound childish to many people but it can also prevent you from getting a tattoo if you aren’t really sure about it.
A tattoo is hopefully for life; don’t rush into anything without thinking long and hard about it.
There are hundreds of thousands of designs in the world, so don’t feel overwhelmed when you start your search for the right design.
